ATLANTA, GA — More than a month after revealing plans to shutter a longtime location in Cobb County, Barnes and Noble has announced a new store will open Wednesday in Atlanta.
The bookstore and cafe will open at 10 a.m. Wednesday at 1205 Caroline St. NE in the Edgewood community, the company announced Monday. It will be the business' 15th active location.
"We’re so happy to be back," Barnes and Noble wrote in a Facebook post.
Atlanta-based author Tayari Jones will serve as the ribbon cutter and will be signing her new novel, "Kin!"
Furthermore, author Gene Kansas will sign his book, "Civil Sights," at noon.
Additional parking will be available in a deck between Marshalls and Burlington, according to Barnes and Noble. Customers will be able to park underground near Target.

The grand opening comes amid the closure of Barnes and Noble's Cumberland location, which will stay open until Aug. 19. The Cumberland store first opened 30 years ago and was "forced" to end its lease, the company previously said.
The building housing Barnes and Noble was reportedly purchased for $12.5 million in December 2024 by RaceTrac, whose headquarters is in the 200 block of Gallery Drive Southeast.
The fuel giant plans to transform what will soon be the former-Barnes and Noble into a new store and Potbelly Sandwich Shop, a spokesperson told the Marietta Daily Journal.
This is much to the dismay of local residents who reportedly opposed the opening of a new RaceTrac in the area.
RaceTrac currently operates a fuel center at Spring Road, not too far away from the Barnes and Noble.
The company said is searching for a new location in the Cobb community.
It will also be opening at 2943-C N. Druid Hills Road in Atlanta's Toco Hills community in the fall.
