Slow-Moving Storms To Soak GA, Produce Flood Risks

There is a chance of excessive rainfall across the entire state of Georgia due to sweeping storms that may bring lightning and high winds.

Georgia will continue to be drenched with excessive rainfall that is set to sweep every portion of the state Thursday, according to the forecast.

There is a 5 percent chance of excessive rainfall from the north to south through Thursday evening in Georgia, according to the National Weather Service's forecast.

The NWS stated it is highly confident that localized flash flooding could inundate some areas due to several snail-paced storms. Lightning and gusty winds are also possible.

This includes the counties of Fulton, Gwinnett, Bartow, Cherokee, Clarke, Oconee, DeKalb, Cobb, Douglas, Fayette, Paulding, Forsyth, Clayton, Henry and Barrow.

The likelihood of daily afternoon rain will be backed by humidity and seasonal temperatures.

This Afternoon: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 90. South wind around 5 mph becoming northwest.

Tonight: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 72. East wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

Friday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Patchy fog before 9 a.m. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 90. South wind around 5 mph.

Friday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 8 p.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 73. Calm wind.

Saturday: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 91. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph.

Saturday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 p.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 73.

Sunday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 91.

Sunday Night: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 2 a.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 74.

Monday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 91.
