GA Restaurant Makes Elite List Of America’s Best By New York Times

A southern Georgia eatery is among the top 50 restaurants in the U.S., critics say.

| Updated

One Georgia restaurant is included in The Restaurant List 2026, an elite compilation of the 50 best restaurants in America by The New York Times.

A 16-person scouting team traveled across the country for the list, eating everywhere from small-town Wisconsin to downtown Manhattan. The critics made reservations, waited in lines and arrived unannounced, paying for their meals and accepting no freebies.

So. Fox, located at 1017 N. Highland Ave. NE in Atlanta, was the sole restaurant to represent the Peach State.

Of So. Fox, Kim Severson wrote:

"Southern ingredients have never met the likes of Myles Moody, whose kitchen journey started at a Chick-fil-A in Atlanta and traveled through Eleven Madison Park and Aska in New York. Along with his wife, the sommelier Rachael Pack, he's opened So. Fox, short for Southern Fox, a nickname for the muscadine grape. Set in a former neighborhood burger haunt transformed with a soft Scandi sensibility, the restaurant is coining a new Southern food lexicon. Al dente zipper peas and a big dollop of caviar come bathed in dashi made from dried Appalachian beans called leather britches. Soft corn dumplings share a plate with Sungold tomatoes and blue crab with a flurry of bottarga. Fermented peaches from last summer hold marshmallow fluff infused with the marzipan-y taste of peach pits and a crown of peach granita and purple shiso. Ms. Pack's tight low-intervention wine list is a delightful bag of tricks."

The restaurants aren't ranked, and none appeared on a previous edition of the annual list. The selections include places that opened only weeks ago as well as restaurants that have been serving customers for decades.
