ATLANTA, GA — The FBI is offering a reward of up to $20,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of a suspect accused of throwing an incendiary device at a federal immigration building in downtown Atlanta Tuesday night.
The reward was announced Wednesday as federal investigators continued searching for an unidentified man believed to be responsible for the attempted arson at the Department of Homeland Security building at 180 Ted Turner Drive.
According to the FBI's Atlanta Field Office, the incident occurred at approximately 8:14 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20. Investigators said the suspect threw a Molotov cocktail-style device at the building, causing minor damage.
As Patch previously reported, the building houses offices for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, commonly known as ICE, and the incident prompted a federal investigation.
No injuries were reported.
The FBI said agents have been reviewing evidence and pursuing leads in the case but no arrests have been announced.
Federal investigators have since published a public appeal for information about the suspect, along with photographs related to the investigation.
Those with information about the suspect's identity or whereabouts are urged to contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324) or submit a tip online at tips.fbi.gov.
