ATLANTA, GA — The Atlanta Dream on Thursday showed they still have fight left in them as they propelled themselves to a Game 7 in the 2026 WNBA Finals, a first in league history.
No other WNBA Finals have had a Game 7. The Dream changed that with an 80-69 defeat over the Golden State Valkyries, who came into Thursday's midday game with a 3-2 lead in the series.
Game 6 was a win-or-go home matchup that began at 12:30 p.m. at State Farm Arena, which was sold out. The series is now tied 3-3.
It rained three-pointers in the first quarter, with the Dream taking down six of them. Atlanta ended the first quarter with 32 points to the Valkyries' 15 points.
Angel Reese, Allisha Gray and Rhyne Howard were among Dream stars who helped push the home team to a Game 7.
The trio had 15, 23 points and 21 points respectively. Reese scored another double-double with 14 rebounds.
Point guard Jordin Canada was the fourth Dream star to land in double figures with 10 points.
The Valkyries' struggle with the Dream was emphasized in the third quarter when guard Veronica Burton was given a Flagrant 1 foul after her right hand made contact with Howard's face, sending Howard to the ground during a layup.
Forward Gabby Williams was the leading scorer for her team with 26 points.
The Valkyries will host Game 7 at 8 p.m. Saturday at Chase Center in San Francisco.
