'Patton's Pals' aims to launch veteran tiny home village in Augusta (wjbf.com) — An Augusta veteran is working to build the city's second tiny home village to help fellow veterans move from rehab into stable, sober living. Backed by mentorship and support from the Augusta commission, Patton's Pals now needs land and funding to open the Battle Born Veteran's Village within three years, offering barracks-style housing and tiny homes for those in recovery.
2. Augusta moves to close business licensing gaps after apartment complex investigation (wrdw.com) — Augusta officials are tightening business licensing rules after inspectors found dozens of code violations at two apartment complexes that previously operated without proper licenses. A new inspection-first rule and upgraded Tyler software system aim to close gaps, improve coordination across city departments, and potentially boost revenue for staffing, but the changes still await approval from the mayor and commissioners.
3. New Cyber Resiliency Center aims to help Georgia hospitals, schools and local governments fight cyber threats (wjbf.com) — A new Cyber Resiliency Center at the Georgia Cyber Center in Augusta is helping protect Georgia's rural hospitals, schools, and local governments from cyberattacks while training Augusta University cybersecurity students on real-world threats. The largely student-run center offers low- to no-cost services like vulnerability assessments and active monitoring, aiming to keep critical services running even when attacks occur.
4. Augusta University Awards DREAMS Scholarships To Increase Opportunities (kicks99.com) — Dozens of Augusta University students just received a boost from Georgia's new DREAMS need-based scholarship, with 69 Jaguars selected from hundreds of applicants. The program, funded with $325 million statewide, offers up to $3,000 a year plus financial literacy and work requirements. Campus financial aid staff say it's already helping local students stay enrolled and finish their degrees.
5. Westminster volleyball gets past Augusta Prep (augustachronicle.com) — Westminster's volleyball team swept Augusta Prep 2–0 in a Thursday night matchup at Augusta Preparatory Day School, with a full photo gallery capturing key moments. Local players from both schools are highlighted in action shots, giving Augusta fans a close look at serves, spikes, and celebrations from this early-season contest.
