• Three charged in Home Depot fraudulent return scheme (newsbreak.com) — A Home Depot on the East-West Connector in Austell was one of four Cobb locations targeted in an alleged fraudulent return scheme using fake IDs and stolen store credit. Three Atlanta residents are accused of making nine bogus returns in 2025, generating about $900 in store credit before being charged with multiple counts of misdemeanor refund fraud.
   

• Mableton selects Anita Allen as first police chief (cobbcountycourier.com) — Mableton has appointed Dr. Anita Allen as its first police chief, launching the creation of a new city police department set to be fully operational by June 2027. In her remarks, Allen specifically called for strong partnerships with nearby agencies, including Austell's police, to build a safer, more united south Cobb community.
