• Avondale Estates shooting leaves man critically wounded (decaturish.com) — A man was critically wounded in a shooting Monday at Harley Collision on Maple Street in Avondale Estates, and local police say there is no ongoing threat to the public. Officers quickly aided the 53-year-old victim before he was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, while the suspected shooter, who knew the victim, was later found in Hapeville with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
   

• Another mosquito trap tests positive for West Nile virus in DeKalb County (atlantanewsfirst.com) — Mosquitoes in the 30002 ZIP code covering Avondale Estates have tested positive for West Nile virus, part of a growing cluster of positive traps in DeKalb County. While no human cases are reported, health officials urge residents to take mosquito-bite precautions and stay alert as additional traps around the county continue to test positive.
