1 Dead, 4 Shot In Brookhaven Apartment Shooting

One of the four men who was shot Sunday was accused of shooting and killing the victim, police said.

BROOKHAVEN, GA — A man was killed and four others injured in a shooting in Brookhaven Sunday morning.

The shooting took place in the 3100 block of Buford Highway around 10:30 a.m., Brookhaven Police said Monday. The shooting was the result of an argument between two men, including the man who died, according to police.

It is unknown who fired the first shot.

When officers arrived, the four men who had been shot were inside an apartment. The accused shooter was also in the apartment with a gunshot wound, police said.

The suspect was detained and was taken to a hospital, police said. Three of the four men were taken to a trauma center for treatment and are in stable condition, police said.

Police identified the man who died as Jose Manuel Ozuna-Ruiz, 44, of Brookhaven. He died inside of the apartment.

Police recovered the weapon used in the killing of Ruiz as well as a second weapon.

The suspect is charged on suspicion of felony murder and aggravated assault, police said. Brookhaven Police Sgt. Jacob Kissel told Patch the suspect's name is not being released as he is still in the hospital and not in police custody as of late Monday morning.
