• Southern Bridge Connector project meeting becomes contentious (roughdraftatlanta.com) — Brookhaven residents packed an Aug. 26 meeting where a proposed Southern Connector Bridge over I-85 sparked shouting, accusations, and fears of cut-through traffic in nearby neighborhoods. City officials say the mostly federally funded project would ease congestion and improve emergency access, and they've promised written answers to unanswered questions plus another public meeting in February 2027.
   

• Illegal Alien Felon and Georgia Man Sentenced to Federal Prison for Trafficking over 700 Pounds of Methamphetamine Hidden in Cucumber Shipment (allongeorgia.com) — A 39-year-old Brookhaven man has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for helping offload more than 700 pounds of methamphetamine hidden in a cucumber shipment at a Gainesville warehouse. Prosecutors say he and a co-defendant planned to separate the drugs from the produce, and both will also face 10 years of supervised release after prison.
