Baby Dies After Alleged Beating By Brookhaven Couple

Kamonie Love Whitehead, 8 months old, died Saturday night as a result of her injuries. The girl's mother and boyfriend are facing charges.

BROOKHAVEN, GA — Police are waiting on the autopsy of an 8-month-old baby girl who died Saturday night before determining if the girl's mother and boyfriend will face additional charges related to the girl's death.

Kamonie Love Whitehead died at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Egleston after being on a ventilator, according to the AJC. Police say the infant had been beaten repeatedly with a belt.

Shavone Whitehead, the girl's mother, and Edward Wilson are already facing charges of cruelty to children and aggravated battery. The couple may face additional charges.

Police say the abuse happened at a home in the 1800 block of Corporate Boulevard, reports CBS 46. The infant was discovered by police when officers responded to a call of an unconscious infant.
