Brandon Joseph Barabino is in custody and at the DeKalb County jail.

Brookhaven, GA -- The man who allegedly shot at a Brookhaven police officer earlier this week has been arrested.

Police have confirmed to Patch that Brandon Joseph Barabino, 34, of Atlanta, is in custody and currently at the DeKalb County jail.

According to police, the officer was parked in the Village at Druid Hills shopping plaza when a man ran up to him shouting “I just got robbed.” The victim said the robbery happened behind the plaza, and when the officer went into the back of the shopping center, another victim said the suspect "just shot at me" and "ran into the apartment complex."

"The officer relocated to the complex and noticed a black vehicle backing out of parking space then moving toward his direction," police said. "The officer approached the vehicle and spoke with the subject face to face, and asked the subject if he saw someone running. The subject pointed behind him and said, 'he went that way.'"

As the officer was copying the tag displayed on the window, the driver fired at him, with the bullet striking the rear driver's side window.
