Brookhaven Man Arrested For Attempted Child Molestation

The suspect arrived at a meeting he thought would be with an underage girl, but met with undercover detectives instead.

A Brookhaven man is behind bars on Wednesday after detectives claim he tried to meet up with an underage girl to have sex.

Gregory Stott, 55, was arrested on March 21 and charged with attempted child molestation and furnishing obscene material, FOX 5 Atlanta says. According to The Brookhaven Post, detectives with the Brookhaven Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) unit discovered through file-sharing websites that Stott was looking for young girls to have sex with.

Posing as an underage girl, detectives engaged Stott in online conversation for two weeks. Once Stott allegedly told the “girl” he wanted to meet and described what his car look like, police had all the info they needed. According to The Brookhaven Post, police followed his car around on the day of the meeting. When he arrived at the meeting place, he was taken into custody.
