City Places Moratorium on Sign Permits

The decision comes at a time the city is being sued by an advertising company.

The Brookhaven city council has placed a moratorium on sign permits and variances until December.

According to the Brookhaven Post, the city is concerned that a ruling by the Supreme Court back in June that primarily dealt with temporary signs. City leaders are worried the decision could have ramifications on local governments, thus prompting the City to impose the moratorium immediately in case persons wish to exploit any crack in the code.

Brookhaven currently faces a lawsuit from Tanner Advertising Group, which is suing the city for denying its applications to place several billboards throughout Brookhaven.
