Decatur Goes Back to School on Monday

DECATUR, GA — Students in the City Schools of Decatur system head back to school on Monday, August 1.

Last week, the AJC reported the system registered its 5,000-th student, the most in the district's 113-year history.

Last year the system broke its previous record of 4,200 students, set in 1970. The system's enrollment has increased between 8 and 12 percent each year since 2009. Various forecasts have predicted the system could enroll as many as 6,500 students by 2020.
