Doraville Police Dog Mourned After Long, Distinguished Career: Report
A memorial service will take place for Tryko, who served the department for 10 years.

DORAVILLE, GA — The Doraville Police Department is planning a memorial service for a police dog who recently died after getting wounded in the line of duty, according to a media report.
Tryko, the K-9 officer, was stabbed in the mouth earlier this year while trying to capture a suspect, WSB-TV Channel 2 reported. He sustained a number of punctures and lacerations to his tongue and mouth, but he appeared to be recovering, and his handler with the Doraville police was preparing to return him to duty.
However, with other lingering health issues, Tryko took a turn for the worse last month. The K-9 had been in the care of veterinarians, and after several setbacks, the police and "all involved made the decision that Tryko be euthanized," WSB-TV reported.
