BROOKHAVEN -- The sudden and unexpected collapse of a section of I-85 in Midtown Atlanta has left commuters and travelers scrambling to find alternative traffic routes and transportation options. For some, the forced alternatives may become permanent behavior changes, as they discover the benefits of options like public transportation, walking and bicycling.
Eric Hunger, president of ElectroBike Georgia, believes now is the perfect time for road-weary travelers to take a spin on an ElectroBike. “ElectroBikes are state-of-the art, motorized bicycles powered by a rechargeable Lithium ion battery,” explained Hunger. “They can be ridden as traditional bicycles, but with the flip of a switch, the rider can turn on the pedal assist feature, as well as a throttle for additional power. The Lithium ion batteries recharge in about an hour and a half simply by plugging them into a standard wall outlet, making the bikes perfect for commuters. Some models even fold up so you can easily take them with you into your home or office.”

Hunger has seen a significant increase in visitors to his ElectroBike shop in Brookhaven in the past few weeks. “People are frustrated with Atlanta’s traffic congestion, which was challenging even before the highway collapse. One barrier to commuting by bike in the past has been Atlanta’s hilly terrain, but that’s not an issue with a motorized bicycle. People are pleasantly surprised at how easy and fun ElectroBikes are to use. And even when the expressway is fully repaired, people may decide to keep commuting on their ElectroBike when the weather is nice and save their car for rainy days.”
ElectroBike Georgia’s first retail store in the state is located in Brookhaven’s Brighten Park Shopping Center (2484 Briarcliff Road, NE, Atlanta, GA 30329). The brand was launched in Mexico in 2012 and quickly spread to the U.S. www.electrobikega.com
