Friends of the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum in Atlanta invite everyone to their “Blue Jeans & Bomber Jacket BBQ” fundraising event to benefit the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum.
The Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum honors the Mighty Eighth’s proud legacy and is pleased to recognize the life and legacy of Frank D. Murphy at this adults only event. Murphy was assigned as a B-17 navigator in the 100th Bomb Group, Eighth Air Force in June 1943. He flew 21 daylight combat missions, without the benefit of fighter escorts. On the 21st Mission he was shot down over Munster,Germany becoming a POW at Stalag Luft III. Murphy was awarded the Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, the Purple Heart, The U.S. Prisoner of War Medal, the Presidential Unit Citation and the European Campaign Ribbon.
The event kicks off at 6:00pm with a reception and silent auction, followed by dinner and dancing. Tickets are $100 per person or $900 for a table of ten.
