The Oglethorpe University Singers Concert Choir and the University Chorale Chamber Choir will present their spring concert. The featured choral work is Daniel Pinkham’s Wedding Cantata based on texts from The Song of Songs. Other selections include works by Brahms, Handel, Graun, Schütz and John Clements. The University Chorale Chamber Choir will perform vocal chamber works by English madrigalists Thomas Morley and John Wilby; a Willaert chanson; Ro Ogura’s Hotaru Koi; and Irving Fine’s setting of Father William. The evening will close with vocal jazz and choral swing accompanied by a jazz ensemble of David Buice, Justin Barnes, Dan Baraszu, and Kevin Smith—all well-known Atlanta musicians, Also included are student soloists, male and female selections and winners of the Singers’ small ensemble contest. Dr. W. Irwin Ray will conduct, artist-in-residence David Buice will accompany, and Dr. Brent Runnels will be guest pianist. Free and open to all.
