The Halal Guys Coming to Chamblee

The Halal Guys, famous for its New York City street food, is reportedly set to open the first of several metro Atlanta locations in Chamblee, possibly by September.

According to franchisee Moynul Chowdhury as told to Eater Atlanta, the restaurant will be located at 4929 Buford Highway, near Canton House Chinese, El Taco Veloz, and several other eateries.

There's no word yet on where or when the remaining Atlanta outposts will open. Chowdhury previously told Eater Atlanta possible destinations may include the "Midtown Atlanta area, on Peachtree Road, and East Ponce De Leon," as well as "the Cumberland area, by the new Braves stadium, Emory University area."

The metro Atlanta locations -- the rest of which have yet to be announced -- are part of 200 new Halal Guys restaurants opening nationwide.

Halal Guys started in 1990 as a Manhattan street cart.
