Man Charged In Shooting At Brookhaven Shopping Center

Brookhaven Police say they have linked the man to other shootings, and DeKalb County Police have charged him with malice murder.

BROOKHAVEN, GA — A man is facing aggravated assault charges after police say he shot another man in a Peachtree Road shopping center Monday.

The shooting happened around 2 a.m. in the 3800 block of Peachtree, Brookhaven Police said.

When officers arrived, they found a 49-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds, police said. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was in critical condition, police said.

Investigators used an in-house camera network to identify a shooting suspect, who police listed as Olaolukitan Adon Abel, 26, of Atlanta.

State troopers arrested Abel on Monday afternoon in Troup County, police said. He was connected to other shootings in DeKalb County, police said.

Abel faces charges of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, police said.

However, DeKalb County Jail records on Tuesday showed Abel additionally faces two counts of malice murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon or first offender probationer. The murder charges were issued by DeKalb County Police, jail records showed.

Abel remained incarcerated Tuesday, according to jail records.
