BROOKHAVEN, GA -- A man was run over and killed by a MARTA bus overnight in Brookhaven. According to the Georgia State Patrol, the man was running alongside the bus in an attempt to get it to stop when he somehow got caught by the rear tire and swept underneath the vehicle. The incident happened near a bus stop on Briarwood Road.There were about 10 people on the bus. The bus driver pulled over after the passengers heard something outside.Georgia State Patrol officials believe alcohol may have been involved in the incident, which they are attributing to the pedestrian. Dr. Stanley Roberts recalls growing up on a dirt road in South Georgia, where the rhythms of life, the care of the land, and the quiet lessons of daily travel shaped who he became. Decades later, he wandered the footpaths of England’s Lake District – trails crossing fields, villages, ancient walls, and hidden gardens – where every step invites reflection, wonder, and discovery. These paths are more than routes from place to place; they are metaphors for life itself. On some days, we wander freely, delighting in the scenery, the sounds, the unexpected turns. On others, we are called to care for the path, to guide, to mark the way for those who follow. Life, like a footpath, asks us to journey thoughtfully, to notice the beauty around us, and to leave the path a little clearer than we found it. Recognized as one of the premier professional choral ensembles in the Southeast, the choir features some of the region’s most talented vocalists and is known for polished performances that celebrate unique and intriguing programming.
