Man Killed By MARTA Bus In Brookhaven

A man was trying to flag down a bus when he got caught by the vehicle's rear tires and was swept underneath.

BROOKHAVEN, GA -- A man was run over and killed by a MARTA bus overnight in Brookhaven. According to the Georgia State Patrol, the man was running alongside the bus in an attempt to get it to stop when he somehow got caught by the rear tire and swept underneath the vehicle. The incident happened near a bus stop on Briarwood Road.

There were about 10 people on the bus. The bus driver pulled over after the passengers heard something outside.

Georgia State Patrol officials believe alcohol may have been involved in the incident, which they are attributing to the pedestrian. The MARTA bus driver is not expected to face charges.
