Oglethorpe Under Investigation for Sexual Assault Reports

Oglethorpe University has joined a list of 141 schools that are under federal investigation for their handling of sexual assault and harassment reports.

According to Reporter Newspapers, the U.S. Department of Education began reviewing how sexual assault and harassment complaints are handled at post-secondary schools. The review is focused on whether the schools’ policies and practices comply with Title IX.

The Oglethorpe case involves a report of “sexual harassment/sexual violence,” according to the department.

The initial list of schools included one Georgia school, Emory University, as the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported at the time. Oglethorpe was added to the list in June of this year.
