Pilot Killed in Air Show Crash at DeKalb-Peachtree Airport: LATEST

DEKALB COUNTY, GA - The pilot of the plane that crashed during an air show at DeKalb-Peachtree Airport Saturday has died, DeKalb County officials wrote on Twitter.

Police received a call regarding the crash just before 5 p.m., DeKalb County police told Patch. Police did not immediately return a call from Patch to confirm the details of the fatality.

The Good Neighbor Day air show was scheduled to take place Saturday at the airport.

"A Pitts Special aircraft that was performing aerobatic maneuvers at the Good Neighbor Airshow at the DeKalb Peachtree Airport crashed into a grassy area adjacent to Runway 21 Right today at 4:46 p.m," the FAA said in a statement.

DeKalb County interim CEO Lee May wrote the following message on Twitter:
