S.J. Collins Enterprises makes generous gift to the DeKalb Medical Foundation
S.J. Collins Enterprises recently gifted $60,000 to the DeKalb Medical Foundation for its Emergency Department renovation project.

S.J. Collins Enterprises (SJCollinsEnt.com), a commercial real estate development firm, recently gifted $60,000 to the DeKalb Medical Foundation for its Emergency Department renovation project.
The Georgia-based business made the substantial donation to the DeKalb Medical Foundation's Building the Future of Emergency Medicine campaign. The DeKalb Medical Foundation recently exceeded its fundraising goal, with more than $2.1 million raised for the first phase of the expansion and renovation of the Emergency Department on its North Decatur campus.
The DeKalb Medical Center’s Emergency Department on its North Decatur campus serves more than 70,000 patients every year. Slated for completion in December 2017, the ambitious Emergency Department renovation will expedite patient traffic, help to reduce wait times and create a more modern environment of care.

“We are humbled to be a small part of the collaborative campaign to provide new and expanded emergency facilities at Dekalb Medical Center,” said Steve Collins, principal of S.J. Collins Enterprises. “As a locally based firm, we are committed to giving back to the community that we live and raise our families in. As the developer of North Decatur Square, we saw this as a perfect fit to support the hospital and this community.”
The developer is currently working on a new mixed-use retail center in up-and-coming Decatur, Ga. named North Decatur Square. Located at Church Street and North Decatur Road, the proposed site is located right across the street from the DeKalb Medical Center, a hospital with 418 beds and 550 doctors.

“It is extremely important to all of our partners to give back to the community we live and raise our families in,” said Jeff Garrison, a partner at S.J. Collins Enterprises. “We have already partnered with the community in several ways in this location to provide more connectivity, increased safety with additional infrastructure, walkability and open space and accessibility to all the amenities that North Decatur Square will offer. We see this donation to a great independent community hospital as the perfect fit to continue to serve the community together.”
Renovations from the recent fundraising campaign will include the creation of an intake and holding area for ambulances and a secured Clinical Stabilization Unit, where patients experiencing behavioral health conditions can receive dedicated care in a safe and secure environment. The revamp will add an Emergency Department-exclusive Radiology Room with x-ray, six new patient care rooms, a bereavement room and an expanded triage area with reclining chairs for patient comfort. The nurse call system will also be updated and a redesigned central workstation will create an open format and better visualization of the hospital’s patients.
"We are so grateful to our donors and the community for making this renovation possible," said Kathy Peters, board chair of the DeKalb Medical Foundation. "This will enable DeKalb Medical to better serve members of our community when they come to the hospital for emergencies."
