Strong Storms Bring Major Power Outages in Brookhaven, Chamblee, Dunwoody
The storms hit around 5 pm on Thursday, and left thousands with power overnight.

Thousands of people in Brookhaven, Chamblee and Dunwoody were without power overnight after a series of powerful storms moved through the communities earlier in the day.
The storms began moving through the area around 5 pm, and left power lines and branches scattered.
Georgia Power said about 30,000 customers in the area were affected.

At least one Brookhaven meeting was cancelled due to the weather: a character area study meeting for the Blackburn Park community.
But about 50 people from the Drew Valley area attended a civic association meeting at the Briarwood Rec Center, to hear officials discuss the plans for and impact from the new John Lewis Elementary School.
