Volunteers Needed For Brookhaven 2018 Stream Cleanup Event
The Peachtree Creek Greenway area has been targeted for trash removal.

BROOKHAVEN, GA -- The city is looking for volunteers for its 2018 stream cleanup event on Saturday, Nov. 3, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the stream at Briarwood Road. The parking and staging area will be at the Osprey Corporation, 1835 Briarwood Road near the entrance to the North Fork Peachtree Creek.
“While the city will begin construction on the Peachtree Creek Greenway later this year, there is no need to delay the cleanup of debris and litter which can contain contaminants and damage water quality,” said Public Works Director Hari Karikaran. “The city is dedicated to protecting the North Fork Peachtree Creek because a healthy community starts with a healthy river.”
Volunteers should wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes and long pants. If possible, bring any tools that would be helpful in collecting trash, such as a rake or shovel. The Brookhaven Public Works Department will provide including bags, light gardening gloves and bottled water and anything else needed for the cleanup. Refreshments will also be served to all volunteers.
