Woman's ban from Georgia church makes national headlines

The story of Genora Hamm Biggs has been featured from coast to coast.

When Union Grove Baptist Church leaders decided to ban a 103-year-old woman from attending their services, they may not have anticipated all this fuss.

The story of Genora Hamm Biggs -- who has been attending the church for almost as long as she’s been alive -- has made headlines throughout the nation.

The story first broke on Fox5Atlanta on Sunday, when Biggs was informed she was no longer welcome because she has openly disagreed with the church’s pastor over his preaching style.

Since then, the story has been featured on Fox News, AOL, and numerous regional media outlets.

Biggs told Fox5 that she and Rev. Tim Mattox have long sparred over his preaching style, which she says is a “Holiness style” that doesn’t belong in the Baptist church.

Tensions came to a head last month when Mattox sent her a letter stating she could no longer attend the church.

But Biggs said nothing will stop her from attending.
