Today's riddle: What is clean when it is black and dirty when it is white? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Southeast Georgia Health System Seeks Volunteers for New Visitor Management Program (sghs.org) — Southeast Georgia Health System is recruiting volunteers for a new Visitor Management Program at its Brunswick campus, giving residents a flexible way to support patients and families. Volunteers will welcome guests, help with check-in, and guide people around the hospital after receiving training. The program seeks friendly, service-minded community members from all backgrounds.
2. Building Homes. Strengthening Community. Supporting Care (sghs.org) — A longtime Camden County homebuilder describes years of driving from St. Marys to Brunswick for cardiology care before specialty services expanded closer to home. Through the Georgia HEART tax-credit program, he now helps support Southeast Georgia Health System, which has added cardiology, wound care, 3D mammography, and robotic knee surgery that benefit Brunswick- and Camden-area residents alike.
3. Georgia reopens oyster harvest in state waters (wsav.com) — Oyster harvesting in Georgia's coastal waters reopens at 6 a.m. on Oct. 8, with the announcement coming from state officials in Brunswick. After an extended summer closure to protect public health, residents can again buy local shellfish, but are urged to follow Georgia DNR guidance and check dealers carefully. Questions can be directed to the Coastal Resources Division's Brunswick office.
4. Bradwell Institute's Jah'Barri Felix wins AJC Player of the Week (wtoc.com) — Brunswick football fans saw a thriller as Bradwell Institute edged Brunswick 57-49 in overtime, its first win over the Pirates since 2018. The story highlights Bradwell quarterback Jah'Barri Felix's huge passing and rushing performance that powered the upset. It also notes the Tigers' strong season start under a first-year head coach.
5. Relief at the Pump as Gas Prices Ease (wnegradio.com) — Brunswick drivers are currently seeing some of the lowest gas prices in Georgia, with the metro average at about $3.71 per gallon. A temporary suspension of the state gas tax and easing crude prices are helping, though costs remain higher than last year. AAA also offers tools to compare prices and plan efficient trips.
