UPDATE: No Bomb at Brookhaven Kroger

An abandoned backpack was found in the store's parking lot; the incident did not affect traffic surrounding the store, police said.

UPDATE (6:11 p.m.): DeKalb County bomb squad technicians have discovered that the backpack left abandoned outside the Kroger at 3871 Peachtree Road does not contain any explosives.

“Kroger is returning to business as usual,” the Brookhaven Police Department said on Facebook.

UPDATE (5:30 p.m.): Kroger officials are evacuating one of their Brookhaven stores after an unattended backpack was left in the store’s parking lot on Wednesday.

Brookhaven police say that a DeKalb County bomb squad will begin inspecting the backpack left outside the Kroger at 3871 Peachtree Road as soon as the store is cleared. No roads have been closed by the situation, police say.

ORIGIANL STORY (5:20 p.m.): Police have reported to a grocery store in Brookhaven in response to a call of a backpack left abandoned in the parking lot.

WSB-TV reports that Brookhaven police units are investigating the backpack left outside the Kroger at 3871 Peachtree Road. A news helicopter is over the area now, but no further details have been released.
