After Buckhead Wreck, APD Officer Rescues Injured Teen

The young man is recovering from a traumatic brain injury at the Shepherd Center, his parents say.

An Atlanta police officer is being thanked by the family of the teenager whose life he saved after a severe car accident in Buckhead last week.

A truck t-boned Grant Williams, 18, on the driver side of his car, trapping him. Officer Chapman rushed to the accident scene, smashed out the back window of Williams’ car, and pulled the injured teenager from the mangled remains of the vehicle, WSB-TV reports.

Chapman then helped to stabilize Williams before he was taken to Grady for further treatment. Later on, as Williams was recovering in the hospital, Chapman came by to check in on him, Williams’ parents told WSB-TV.

Williams has been moved to the Shepherd Center to continue his recovery.
