Warner, Bates, McGough & McGinnis (www.wbmfamilylaw.com), today announced that the firm will now be known as Warner, Bates, McGough, McGinnis & Portnoy, following the addition of Kathy L. Portnoy as partner.
Ms. Portnoy, along with three associates and support staffers, will join the firm from Callner, Portnoy & Garner, a firm which she founded in 2008. She was also a founding member of the firm’s predecessor, Alembik, Fine & Callner, P.A. in 1981.
“Kathy will make our firm stronger the moment she walks in the door. She is known throughout the legal community for her knowledge of the law and for her ability to advise families during their most vulnerable times,” said C. Wilbur Warner, Jr., a founding partner of Warner, Bates, McGough & McGinnis.

In over 30 years of practice, Ms. Portnoy has handled domestic matters for a wide range of clients, including Fortune 500 executives, small business owners, and senior citizens. She is also a frequent lecturer on a variety of family law topics, having appeared before the American Bar Association, the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia, and the Georgia Psychological Association.

Since 1996, Ms Portnoy has been a member of the local faculty of the National Institute of Trial Advocacy. She was previously a member of the adjunct faculty of the Emory University School of Law, where she taught research, writing and trial practice to first year law students.
