Suzanna Jemsby, Head of The Galloway School, to Speak at Buckhead Business Association Breakfast

The Buckhead Business Association (BBA) is pleased to announce that Suzanna Jemsby, Head of The Galloway School, will speak at the Buckhead Business Association Breakfast on May 16, 2013 at the City Club of Buckhead.  Ms. Jemsby will discuss education in the 21st century, and will specifically address ways that The Galloway School aims to shape the local environment.

“Suzanna Jemsby comes to us with a wealth of knowledge surrounding education” notes Brian Daughdrill, 2013 President of the BBA.  “As many schools are failing to meet the needs of their students, Jemsby and The Galloway School are working to redefine the role of education in our society, and we look forward to hearing her perspective on education in the Buckhead community.”

Suzanna Jemsby joined The Galloway School community in 2012 with a 17-year career in education. Prior to her arrival at Galloway, she was executive director of the Center for the Advancement and Study of International Education (CASIE), a nonprofit organization that promotes global education through cutting-edge professional development for more than 4,000 educators each year. Prior to her work at CASIE, Suzanna was head of Upper School at Atlanta International School (AIS), where she oversaw a division of nearly 300 students and 35 faculty members. During her principalship, she established an advisory program, promoted faculty evaluation and development, and strengthened the curriculum to more accurately reflect the school’s mission.

Before moving to the United States, Suzanna served as a teacher, grade head, and acting head of secondary school at two international schools in Frankfurt, Germany, where she taught in both International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement programs, and she began her career as a French and German teacher in London.

Suzanna has a master’s degree from the University of Cambridge, U.K., in modern and medieval languages, and teaching and performance diplomas from the London College of Music. She is fluent in English, German, and French, and also speaks Italian and Swedish. In addition to her professional accomplishments, Suzanna is a freelance cellist and a published author of short stories. She and her husband, Bjoern, have three daughters, Sophia, first grade, Tindra, Pre-K, and Freja (yet to be a Galloway student).
