APD Officers to Direct Traffic at Lenox Road Construction Site

Officers to be on rush hour duty after Friday morning traffic jam

After a traffic jam Friday morning at a Lenox Road construction site, Atlanta police offficers will be directing traffic there during the Friday afternoon rush hour.

until Nov. 9. A number of traffic signs, including one at East Paces Ferry Road several blocks north of the project, warn motorists, but many continued to the site Friday morning, causing the gridlock.

"We will have APD officers onsite directing traffic," said Janet Ward, spokesperson for the city Department of Watershed Management. "There are plenty of signs, but people don’t always think they apply to them. APD should smooth things out."

The construction site was free of cars at lunch hour Friday.

The Deparment of Watershed Management gave these detour details on its Facebook page: Commercial traffic should use Sidney Marcus Boulevard. to Piedmont Road. Northbound non-commercial traffic can use Buford Highway to East Roxboro Road to Peachtree Road. Southbound non-commercial traffic can use East Paces Ferry Road to Roxboro Road to Buford Highway.
