Atlanta Bank Robbery Suspects Sought

The suspects led police on a vehicle chase which ended in Glenrose Heights; the suspects then fled on foot and remain uncaptured.

Atlanta police and the FBI are on the hunt for three bank robbers who struck at a Wells Fargo branch in Hapeville before escaping on foot following a vehicle chase.

At 9:50 a.m. Friday, three masked armed men burst into the bank at 979 Virginia Ave. One suspect guarded the door, while the others went behind the teller’s counter. The three men escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash and fled in a white Nissan Xterra.

The FBI believes the trio then ditched the Xterra and used a white Mercedes-Benz as a “switch vehicle.” Squad cars caught up with the Benz, which was pursued to an apartment complex near 183 Mt. Zion Road. The three suspects subsequently escaped; they may be on foot, or they may have switched to a Dodge Caravan, agents said.
