Atlanta Employees Rescued From Rising Flood Waters
The employees were rescued by firefighters from the Peachtree Creek waters Wednesday afternoon in Buckhead.

ATLANTA, GA -- Atlanta firefighters had to rescue some of their fellow government employees as they became stuck in the rising waters of Peachtree Creek in Buckhead.
Five city employees had to be rescued Wednesday afternoon along Peachtree Battle Avenue at Woodward Way in Buckhead.
The employees, seven in total, were from the city's Department of Public Works and Department of Watershed Management, said Lillian Govus, director of communications for the watershed department.

The employees were performing routine work to "monitor an area that is prone to flooding" while public works crews were there to place barriers on the street when they were caught off guard by the rising waters of the creek.
Govus said no injuries were reported in the incident.
