Atlanta International School Breaks Ground for Early Learning Center

Mayor Kasim Reed spoke Tuesday at the groundbreaking ceremony for a language immersion center for 3- and 4-year-olds.
Reed said at the groundbreaking for the AIS Early Learning Center in the Alex Horsley Building, βAtlanta International School certainly represents one of Atlanta's jewels ... because you really can't imagine our city without it," according to a report from the school.

The building, named in honor of the schoolβs founding headmaster, Alex Horsley, will house a full immersion program in French, German and Spanish for 3β and 4βyearβolds and is scheduled to open in late August 2012, the Buckhead school said in an announcement. The site is located at 3438 Peachtree Ave., just across the street from the schoolβs Adair Art, Science and Design Center on the main campus.
The oneβstory, residentialβscale Alex Horsley building will include eight classrooms with retractable walls, a large multipurpose room, offices, a small warming kitchen and conference facilities. All clasrooms will open to a large outdor play and educational green space. The building will be built to EarthCraft specifications.
