Atlanta Mayor: Be Off the Streets by 4

Kasim Reed has suggested a course of action for residents that will have them at home with their families when the winter storm hits.

Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed isn’t taking any chances when it comes to the winter storm that is bearing down on the city.

At a Wednesday morning press conference, Reed asked all Atlanta residents to pick up their children from school and be at home before 4 p.m. so that crews can salt the city’s roads before major snowfall begins. Reed suggested a staggered schedule, which would see kids picked up between noon and 2 p.m., and people getting home from work between 2 and 4 p.m.

By staggering the times, Reed hopes that Atlanta can avoid the extreme gridlock that paralyzed the city during the winter storms last year.
