Atlanta Police Make Arrests in Craigslist Robbery Spree

Atlanta police have arrested seven people they say were behind a string of robberies facilitated through the online marketplace Craigslist.

According to a department statement, Darious Harris, JuJuane Harris, Tayza Harris, Aqueelah Jannah, Jacorey Johnson, Tereka Mills, and Cameron T. Neeley would post on Craigslist offering to sell a car at a vastly below-market price. When victims inquired about the car, they were told to meet the seller in the 1700 block of Stanton Road, where they were robbed at gunpoint.

Police said that there are 15 known robberies attached to the suspects, which saw $20,000 in cash and miscellaneous objects taken by the suspects.

The suspects range in age from 17 to 41 years old, and some have ties to the Billy Bad Ass and 9 Trey gangs. All told, the suspects face a combined total of 19 counts of Participation in Criminal Street Gang Activity, 9 Counts of Criminal Attempt to Commit Armed Robbery, 18 Counts of Possession of Firearm during the Attempted Commission of a Felony, and 22 Counts of Armed Robbery. All suspects have been successfully indicted in Fulton County, according to police.

“These collaborative efforts underscore our commitment to identifying and apprehending any and all individuals who seek to commit these types of acts in our city,” police said in a statement. “These acts will not be tolerated and we will allocate appropriate resources to ensuring those who choose to commit these crimes are brought to justice.”
