WSB-TV says that the streetcar tried to maneuver around an illegally-parked florist’s van on Auburn Avenue on April 25, but still ran into the vehicle. The florist told WSB-TV that the van was destroyed, while Atlanta Streetcar officials said they aren’t sure how much repairs will cost or how long they will take. Though there was significant damage inflicted upon both vehicles, nobody was injured.
The driver of the van admitted he had parked illegally while he made a floral delivery at a funeral home, but he and his boss agreed that streetcar drivers should have more training before getting behind the controls of such expensive and powerful vehicles.
