Atlanta Teen Shot, Nearly Killed in Robbery

The robbers stole the victim's cell phone and wallet containing $23.

An Atlanta teenager is lucky to be alive after being shot in the chest during an armed robbery in East Point on Saturday night.

According to WSB-TV, Darrell Scott, Jr. was waiting for a bus at Washington and Redwine roads when two men approached him, brandished a handgun, and demanded money. Scott surrendered his cell phone and wallet with $23 inside, but was still shot in the chest. The bullet damaged one of Scott’s kidneys, but missed his spleen by an inch, WSB-TV says.

Scott staggered out into the street in attempt to get help, but motorists ignored his plight. A coach at Scott’s alma mater finally stopped and helped, WSB-TV says.
