Atlanta Veterans Day Parade, Festival is Saturday
The parade will commence at 11:11 a.m. at SunTrust Plaza; the festival will be held at Pemberton Place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Georgia Veterans Day Parade Association is hours away from kicking off the 2014 Veteranβs Day festivities in Atlanta with a parade commemorating the last 15 months of the Second World War.
The βPathway to Victoryβ parade will kick off promptly at 11:11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8 at SunTrust Plaza. The parade route will proceed down Peachtree Street, turn on Baker Street, head down Marietta Street and end at the intersection with Centennial Olympic Park Drive. A reviewing stand will be available on Baker Street between the Georgia Aquarium and the World of Coca-Cola.
The Grand Marshal for the parade will be Ret. Col. Dale Dye, who has served as a technical consultant in war films and programs such as βSaving Private Ryan,β βBand of Brothers,β and βThe Pacific.β The parade will commemorate the efforts of American soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines who battled the Axis Powers on two continents between the D-Day invasion of June 6, 1944, and the signing of the final instrument of surrender in Tokyo Bay in September of 1945.

In addition to the parade, a Veterans Festival will take place at Pemberton Place between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday. The festival will feature several organizations which serve the Atlanta veteran community.
