Fashion’s Night Out (FNO) Style Files

Buckhead has long been known as the fashion district of Atlanta, and this year is no exception. This week Style Files looks at the history of FNO and highlights events taking place Sept. 6.

Fashion’s Night Out (FNO) is only one week away! Have you picked out your outfit, assembled your entourage, bought necessary tickets and returned reservation cards?

Buckhead has long been known as the fashion district of Atlanta, and this year is no exception. This week Style Files looks at the history of FNO and highlights events taking place Sept. 6.

Started in New York in 2009 as a catalyst to restore consumer confidence during the worst economic recession of our time, FNO is now celebrated in more than 100 cities nationwide. FNO is a special night to highlight fashion and support local retail with events that include designer appearances, celebrity guests, fashion shows and musical performances.

Shops Around Lenox has two major events planned. Modern Luxury’s Jezebel and The Atlantan have partnered with Shops Around Lenox to present Shop Atlanta: The Big Bag Bang shopping event and runway show. Shops will keep the door open late and offer incentives to shoppers. Designer handbags will be featured during the runway show and then auctioned off to benefit Meals on Wheels.

Tootsie’s is hosting Teal to Heal, a private shopping and runway event to benefit the Georgia Ovarian Cancer Alliance. There will be cocktails, a fashion show and personal appearances by designers Ava Maistrellis, David Peck and Joan Hornig.

We also heard about an interesting event QVC will be hosting in New York that you can enjoy from anywhere in the world. Never shopped on QVC? FNO might be a good reason to check it out.  There will be interactive “try-on” sessions at a pop-up store in the Meatpacking District of NYC. Shoppers there will be styled by FNO-enlisted designers (from actress Jennifer Hudson to artist Marc Bouwer). The moment will be captured by an on-site photographer, shared on social media and covered on the television channel. QVC is also offering a Vogue-designed, limited edition tote on its website, and all proceeds will benefit Fashion Targets Breast Cancer.
