Festivities for Senior Night preceded the game with parents and their sons taking the field for pictures and some special thoughts read by JJ (Jeff Johnson) about each senior. Moms were presented a bouquet of flowers by their sons.  Coach Gip Johnston had a personal note for each of the boys. Special thanks to Gwendy Johnston who organized the evening. This is a very strong senior class and next years’ graduates will have some big shoes to fill. Thank you seniors for working so hard, playing so hard and giving us such great baseball to watch.

Wells King started on the mound and was dominant striking out 2 and pitching a groundout to Campbell Toye at SS who threw to Austin Hedrick at 1B for the 3rd out. The bats erupted with a leadoff single by King, who advanced on a walk to Cam Callier (back from injury). Harrison McClure singled as did Jackson Echols to score King. Hedrick, Toye and Will Johnson walked. McClure and Echols crossed the plate. Hugh Fitzgibbons singled in Hedrick with Toye showing his dexterity on the bases narrowly avoiding the hard hit ball to LF. Jacob Ogelsby walked and stole 2B. King doubled for his second hit of the inning. Followed by a doubles by Callier and McClure. William Makepeace ended the offensive flurry with an infield single. Score 13 to 0.

Toye took over from King (with the interesting battery of Toye/McClure) and with much the same result. 2 Ks and a popup to end the inning. Ogelsby led off and was hit by pitch. King smacked another double and Callier walked. McClure hit into a fielder’s choice. Echols was hit by pitch to score King. Toye and Makepeace walked, pushing McClure across to make it 17 to 0.

Ogelsby closed out the game with 2 Ks and a nice play by King at 1B to end it. Final 17 to 0.
