Buckhead Chef Planning Mass Wedding of Gay Couples

Gay couples looking to get married in a mass event in Atlanta held by a renowned Buckhead chef are asked to get on social media to secure an invitation.

According to The Huffington Post, Southern Art restaurant’s Art Smith’s β€œ101 Gay Weddings” is coming to Atlanta on June 28, from 1 to 6 p.m. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the timing of the event is meant to take advantage of the Supreme Court’s expected decision on gay marriage before the court goes into recess on June 30.

In order to participate in the wedding ceremony, send a tweet with the hashtag #101GayWeddings to @ChefArtSmith. Each invited couple can bring as many guests as they would like, the Huffington Post says.

Smith is bringing gay marriage to the small screen, with an upcoming special episode of the show β€œTop Chef” slated to feature at least one couple’s big day. The Huffington Post reports that β€œTop Chef” producers are searching for gay couples that would like to take part in the special wedding episode.

Smith, who is a master of Southern cooking and has served as Oprah’s personal chef, has been happily married to his husband Jesus Salgueiro since 2011.
