Buckhead Expansion For Piedmont Hospital Unveiled

The hospital is undertaking a $600 million expansion to its Buckhead location.

ATLANTA, GA – Piedmont Atlanta Hospital announced on Tuesday that it has partnered with 31 companies in the construction of its new patient tower, slated to begin next January.

“The tower will offer a patient-centric, integrated healthcare experience that will improve all aspects of patient care at Piedmont Atlanta, both in the new tower and the existing campus, so that we can continue our 110+ year tradition of serving this community,” said Patrick Battey, CEO of Piedmont Atlanta Hospital.

The first phase of the $603 million project will be complete around September 2020. Phase two of the tower up-fit will begin in 2022 and one patient floor will be completed per year, except for 2026 when the final two floors will be built out. The total project duration will be 10 years.

“Soon, approximately 45 percent of the current space at Piedmont Atlanta will exceed a typical life expectancy of 40 years,” Battey said. “This, combined with ongoing inpatient capacity issues, necessitates new and additional space. We are grateful to our partners for helping us make this new facility a reality.”
