Buckhead Grandmother Carjacked at Lenox Square

The incident was one of several Buckhead carjackings that have occurred over the last few days.

Atlanta, GA -- A 70-year-old Buckhead grandmother was carjacked at Lenox Square earlier this week.

What made the crime even more terrifying was that two of her granddaughters were in the car.

“When we got out of the car and I saw him approach me with the gun, I told the girls to run," said Anita Thomas, as reported to Fox5 Atlanta. "It was my granddaughters that I was terrified for."

Another carjacking took place on Monday night at the OK Cafe. Police don't know if the two carjackings are related.

According to the AJC, Thomas was approached by a man with a gun in the Neiman Marcus parking deck. Thomas gave the man her keys and her phone. Thomas' car, a blue 2015 Mercedes Benz, was found later in southwest Atlanta.

In the OK Cafe incident, a carjacker approached a couple in the restaurant's parking lot and demanded their keys at gunpoint. Police tracked the car, but the suspect got into another vehicle and escaped.

Police say they are deploying more officers inside some of Buckhead's more popular shopping areas such as Lenox Square.
