Buckhead Heritage Hosts Interview with Sam Massell

Buckhead Heritage interviews former Atlanta mayor Sam Massell

The Buckhead Heritage Society recently hosted an interview and book signing with Sam Massell, who served from 1970-74 as the 53rd mayor of Atlanta. Narrated by Buckhead historian Thornton Kennedy, the program was held at the Atlanta International School, formerly North Fulton High School. Longtime residents as well as newcomers learned more about the man who has excelled in four careers (commercial real estate, elected offices, the tourism industry and association management) and his major impact on the city, including creating Atlanta's Urban Design Commission, establishing Metro Atlanta's mass transit system and developing the Omni, Atlanta's first enclosed arena.

The Buckhead Heritage Society, a non-profit organization, enhances the quality of life in Buckhead by identifying, preserving and promoting its historic resources. To learn more about the organization, go to www.BuckheadHeritage.com.
