The Buckhead Heritage Society’s plans to use modern art and technology to bring the area’s history to life received a shot in the arm through a donation from the Buckhead Business Association last week.

According to a business association release, the donation in the amount of $3,000 was given to Buckhead Heritage Society Executive Director Erica Danylchak at the business association’s holiday party on Dec. 11.

The Interpretive Master Plan will bring Buckhead’s history to life by eschewing outdated historical markers and using modern methods such as glass panels superimposing historic photographs of Buckhead sites over those same sites in the present day or outlining rows of Civil War soldiers’ tents at the places where they once stood. You can see some conceptual renderings of the Interpretive Master Plan at the Buckhead Heritage Society’s website.

“We are grateful for this contribution that will help us advance our Interpretive Master Plan, which will be implemented over the next few years,” Danylchak said in a statement. “The interpretive program outlined in the plan will prompt residents and visitors alike to discover that Buckhead, indeed, has a rich history. And it will focus attention on essential elements of the community’s fabric that should be preserved in the future.”

The proceeds donated to the Interpretive Master Plan were raised in September during the revamped Taste of Buckhead event, the business association said.
