A Buckhead neighborhood with a century-old history shall keep its beautiful architecture for another century after it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places late last month.

According to BuckheadView, Buckhead Forest cropped up in stages between 1911 and 1945, providing an architectural time capsule of the transition between streetcar transit and America’s burgeoning love affair with the automobile.

Homes in the neighborhood are generally set back from the road, creating a greener, park like ambiance to the area, BuckheadView says. In addition, homes built in the 1910s can still be found standing and generally unchanged from their original appearance.

Buckhead Forest was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on Jan. 27, according to BuckheadView.
